Praise For Productivity

After what I would consider a slightly uncertain start to the year, things have started to really fall in place for me lately. I was hired by a company in the US late last month to write as part of a team of writers for an ongoing basis. The offer sounded pretty good, but I am normally somewhat cautious of that. It turns out, this job will be a regular part-time writing position for me as long as I want it. So far, it has been the majority of my writing over the past three weeks.

Along with it came the realization that I am getting a little more organized. Not that I wasn’t before, but with such a high volume of writing tasks coming in all of a sudden I’ve had to get a little more focused when in front of the laptop computer. Instead of trying to fill my days with small and medium sized jobs I now have a large job that I can fit everything else around. It changed how I work to where I am seeing a lot more productivity.

Of course, I know it’s not all because of me.

When I started to connect with the sudden changes in my productivity I started getting in the habit of acknowledging it at the end of each writing day. Now when I shut the computer down for the night I thank God for “another productive day” because I know He is the person paving the way for them to happen.

I like how efficient it has made me become. In the past week I have written and completed enough writing chores that I am actually a little bit ahead of my deadlines. I like having a bit of breathing room in that way. I am accomplishing the amount of work in one day that was taking me two days to complete a month or two ago. I’m full of energy, still have tons of free time each day and feel rested when I get up each morning.

I praise God for showing me how to make better use of my time by putting a big job in my lap so I would have to work around it instead of trying something else. I’m in familiar territory because I found myself making priorities daily when I still owned the newspaper only for some reason this is a different level of priority.

I also find it more relaxing – the full-time writing – than I thought it might be. I wanted to try to prevent it from becoming another time consuming job and so far it isn’t. Sure, I put in a lot of hours with my freelance work, but once I get ahead I have time to relax. I even purposely take at least one day off a week. I will also have one or two more half days off in the same week as well.

It’s all a result of the productivity that has come about with the changes in work over the past month. Thank you, Lord for showing me how to achieve what I am achieving and for giving me the talents to use in this manner.

Are you finding it difficult to move ahead? Feel as if you can’t move forward in any way? Ask God for some assistance and watch what happens. He will always come through. You just have to trust Him and watch for the signs.
